Saturday Sketch

This week was my week to post a challenge over on the Scrap, Etc forums. My challenge was to do a scrapbook page using birthday photos and to make your own embellishment for the page. So I decided to use my Saturday Sketch for this week and do my page for the challenge.

The paper is from Pink Paislee. I think the papers in this line will be in stores soon. Gretchen and Lucy snagged some at CHA and I scored some in the goody bags they brought back for the design team. I made the candles as my embellishments. Some I crimped and some I accordian folded and then swiped them with a versamark ink pad and then embossed with Stampin' Up's iridescent ice embossing powder that I've been so infatuated with lately. You can't really see it on the photos though. I hand drew the flames on yellow cardstock and then sponged tangerine chalk ink and then used chestnut roan chalk ink to ink the edges. Then I put a little bit of glue and Stampin' Up's Dazzling Diamonds glitter on them. I used dimensional adhesive squares to adhere the candles and flames. Stamped 'birthday' and used heidi swapp chipboard letters for 'girl' for the title. I also used some older Making Memories rub-ons for the numbers on the photos.  I really like how this page turned out.

So first up, here's the sketch:

And here are a few views of the page. Thanks for looking. Oh and if you head over to the forums at Scrap, Etc and play along with the challenge  you'll be put into a drawing for some goodies. The deadline for posting a link to you layout for the challenge is Wednesday, March 4. Thanks for looking!

My crimper sits in a drawer. This makes me want to pull it out.;)
