For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10
I forget this. Just as I forget that In Him All Things. How easy it is to forget that we are His workmanship. Very little looks like His workmanship most times. At least not that we can see on the surface. Shouldn’t His workmanship look amazing? Shouldn’t it astonish us?
But if we look deeper, it is there. In the ordinary, we can find His workmanship if we take the time to look.
Coincidences????
I forget that He has prepared things before us. Each encounter, each task, He set in place for us to experience, for us to walk in.
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. – Psalm 139:16
who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity, – 2 Timothy 1:9
I’m not sure I believe in coincidences anymore. There was a time where I did, but now? I’m not so sure.
If God prepared good works beforehand so that we would walk in them….
If all our days were written before we were even formed…..
If we are called according to His purpose…..
Do we often miss these opportunities? Many times a day I think. I’m sure I do. Opportunities and experiences that masquerade as ordinary moments in time that we fail to see for what they really are. Moments prepared by God so we could walk in them.
Our minds can not really comprehend this. We can not grasp the truth that God knew every aspect even before we came into being.
Unfair
Even the difficult experiences we would walk through He knew. We cannot comprehend the why of the difficult ones. I struggle with this. I don’t like it. This inability to understand the why of these difficult situations. I want to stomp my foot like a toddler and scream “It’s just not fair!” So many situations my mind wants to know why they are so unfair. Yet the why can not be explained. I think rarely we will ever understand the why this side of heaven.
Yes, some situations and experiences of are of our own making. Yes, there is sin in the world. I know the cliché Christian answer is that sin cursed the world. Still that is difficult to comprehend.
Even so it is a choice to trust. His ways are higher. One day we will see. Until then we can only rest in His promises and trust.
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. – 1 Corinthians 13:12
