In Him All Things

Morning drive
For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. – Colossians 1:16-17

In Him all things….

Creatives especially are prone to paralyzingly fear of failure.

We easily find our identity in what we create.

What if we could reprogram our minds that everything we create ultimately comes from Him, is ultimately in Him.

This is one of my goals this year. To remember this truth.

In Him all things…..

In Him…..I get to take my son to a school where he is challenged. Because of His grace I get to help my son study and learn.

In Him all things…..

In Him is my photography. Every image I capture with my camera I only capture because this ability is from Him.

In Him all things…..

In Him…..every brushstroke I put to canvas and wood. Each painting an attempt to bring a vision He has given me to life.

In Him all things…..

In Him…..every word and paragraph I form. The days I sit to write I only write because He gives the thoughts and words.

In Him all things…..

In Him…..the tasks I get to complete as I serve at church are done because He gives the opportunity.

In Him all things…..

What if we could remember this one simple truth? That in Him all things live and breath and are held together because all things have been created through Him and for Him.

How would this simple retraining of our minds to acknowledge Him in all things?

No more fear of failing. Because isn’t this what paralyzes most of us? That need to perform perfectly. From where does this insane notion of needing to be perfect at all times come?

The enemy wants to paralyze us so we forget that in Him all things…

We forget that it is only in the failures do we learn. It is only in the failures do we learn how He is shaping us layer by layer.

If we stripped a da Vinci or Michelangelo masterpiece down layer by layer of paint we would see a first layer that looks nothing like the completed piece. It is only through the layering does each piece of art eventually become the vision the artist first dreamed. The layers, each imperfect on their own, come together to create something beautiful. Imagine if the artist gave up after one layer. What if he didn’t give his masterpiece the grace it needed to become it’s final piece?

It all circles back to grace. Because of His grace He holds all things together.

In Him all things….

And it’s because of His grace we can set our minds on the truth that in Him all things live and move and have their being.

In Him all things…..
