“Trust your training,” she told her. The agent normally behind a computer was working in the field for the first time. NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles are as much suspense as I can watch. Anything more makes my blood pressure go up too high. I gave up watching Alias because I couldn’t handle the stress. I won’t even entertain the thought of Jack Bauer. When Hettie tells Nell to “trust your training,” my thoughts turned to “trust,” one of my words last year. And I wondered how often we “trust our training.” The enemy wants nothing more than for us to forget the truths God gives us and teaches us. He puts people in our lives to speak truth into our hearts. He gives us experiences and reveals Himself to us through experiences. He gives us His word. This is our training. The enemy doesn’t want us to trust our training.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. – John 10:10
He doesn’t want us to remember that God can do immeasurably more than we can imagine. He doesn’t want us to trust that God hems us in behind and before. He doesn’t want us to know in our hearts that God is faithful or that He gives us gifts and a purpose. Trust that God will provide all our needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ. Trust that Jehovah Nissi goes before you to fight your battles. Trust that God gives you gifts to use for His glory. Trust that you can rest in Jehovah Shaloam. Trust that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Trust that God made you for a purpose. Trust that He will reveal your passion. Trust your training.
