Today I want to tell you about one of my all time favorite children’s books.
Meet Hermie the Common Catepillar. Written by Max Lucado, Hermie thinks he is just a common catepillar and tries to be like other critters he thinks are special. Along his journey he talks with his friend Wormie and God. In the end he realizes he is just as special as the other creatures; he just needed to be patient and wait to become what God had created him to be — a beautiful butterfly.
What’s even better about Hermie is that it is also a video featuring the voices of Tim Conway and Don Knotts. Hermie and Friends is a series of books and videos to teach children. My DS has outgrown them for the most part, but I still love them. Alabama’s own Rick and Bubba even make appearances in some of the videos as Iggy and Ziggy Cockroach.
So if you’ve never heard of Hermie you definitely need to get it and if you have pull it out and read it again and let your heart soak in its message once again.
Be sure and check back next week when I begin a 4-week series highlighting one of my favorite southern authors.
